COVID-19: NB moves Zones 1 and 3 to Yellow (Dec. 7, 2020)

An early Christmas present for Zones 1 and 3 from New Brunswick Public Health was announced on Sunday. Both the Moncton and Fredericton regions have been returned to the less-restrictive Yellow phase of the province's Coronavirus recovery plan (read the full press release here). Reasons for the change in the two regions include a declining case load and high levels of public adherence to restrictions aimed at limiting the spread of COVID-19. Meantime, the Saint John region (Zone 2) remains at the more strict Orange phase due to more cases in that region and a greater risk of outbreaks for the time being. There were two new cases of COVID-19 reported in New Brunswick on Dec. 7th -- one each in zones 3 and 4 (Edmundston region). There are currently 81 active cases in the province, three of which require hospitalization, two in intensive care. Since the global pandemic began, there have been 536 cases in New Brunswick, 448 recoveries, and seven deaths. To date, 133,868 tests have been conducted.
