The 2016 Salisbury Community Days Committee would like to thank the local community groups, churches, businesses, and the public for the many donations, and/or volunteer hours they gave to ensure organized events and a parade with many wonderful floats and entries.  Your hard work is very much appreciated.

Special thanks to YOU the public for your participation and support.

Finally, we extend our thanks to the Village Council and Village Staff for their financial assistance, ...volunteer efforts, and encouragement!!

Thursday, August 18th

10am-3pm

Seniors Day @ Legion - Open to all seniors, Soup & Sandwiches, Games and Fun. (FREE)

2-3pm

Life Size Candyland @ Salisbury Public Library (in Millennium Park behind the library if weather allows, inside if it rains)  Children, teens, parents and caregivers can race through the Peppermint Forest and Gumdrop Mountains, while enjoying delicious treats on your way to the Candy Castle.  Come dressed up as your favourite Candyland character - Costumes are optional but awesome! (FREE)

4-6:30pm 

Abandoned Cat Rescue SPAYghetti Dinner @ Salisbury Lions Club (63 Peter Street) - Spaghetti Dinner, Cesar Salad, Roll, Dessert (Homemade Pies & Cakes), and Beverage.  There will also be Craft & Bake Sale Table, Silent auction, and 50/50 Draw. ($12-Adults/$6-Age 12 and under)  All proceeds for the Abandoned Cat Rescue. Petz International "Special Pet" Coloring Contest and Essay Deadline @ Village Office - Pick up a colouring contest picture at the Village Office.  Tell us what makes your pet special! Three categories, Ages 0-5, 6-9 and 10+.  All entries will be displayed and prizes will be presented on Saturday following the parade.

Enter Exhibits-Salisbury Community Days Exhibit Show @ Fire Hall - Who has the cutest pet photo?  Who has the best flowers?  Who is the better cook?  Who is more crafty?  There is a category for everyone and children’s and senior’s sections.  Pick up your entry form at the Village Office or Click here Something for everyone. (No entry fee)

Story Time  @ Salisbury Public Library - Felt stories, Puppet Show, and Crafts. (FREE)

10am-2pm 

Kids & Family Day @ Boys & Girls Club - BBQ, Games, & Fun (FREE) There will be water games, so come prepared to get wet.  For information call 372-5873.  This is a joint effort of the Lions and the Boys & Girls Club.

12pm

Deadline for Colouring Contest @ Village Office - Pick up a colouring contest picture at the Village Office or print off your own.  Two categories, one for children (0-13) and one for adults.  (Don't forget to place your name and contact number on the back) Submissions must be received prior to 12pm.  All entries will be displayed and prizes will be presented on Sunday during the BBQ.

Deadline for Poster Contest  @ Fire Hall - Make a poster with this year’s theme.  You can draw, paint, or use pictures from a magazine.  Posters should be no smaller than 8 ½ x 11 and no larger than poster board.  Be sure to drop off your poster at the Exhibit Hall before 2pm for judging.  Entries will be displayed at the Exhibit Show

Salisbury United Church Supper @ Salisbury United Church - Home Baked Beans, Ham, Potato Salad, with Cucumber, Carrot and Tomatoes Sliced and a Dinner Roll, Tea, Coffee, Juice and Dessert. ($10-Adult/$5-Age 10 and under) Eat In or Take Out.  Tickets available in advance or at the door.  Call Lois @ 372-4357 or Bev @ 756-2615.  As done in the past, takeout orders can be delivered to seniors or others (in the Salisbury area) between 4-4:30pm.

Open Exhibits  @ Fire Hall - Come see who won!! (FREE)

Enter Chili Challenge* - Who will earn the bragging rights for the best chili in the coming year? Entry fee is free.  Rules available at the Village Office. (This is a joint effort of the Salisbury Community Days Committee and the Salisbury St. John Ambulance)

6:30-7:00pm 

Chili Challenge Judging - Come test the chili and see if your pick is the pick of the judges!

4-9pm

FOOD TRUCKS

Heavy Kevy's Food Truck - Heavy Kevy has confirmed he will be in attendance, why not come on by and have a Heavy Kevy's Great Meal! 

7-8pm 

Lawn Tractor Races* - Come put your mower to the test and see who’s lawn tractor is best!  Rules and regulations are available at the Village Office.  Please call or stop in at the Village Office to register.

Musical Entertainment by HONE THE CRAFT* (Check them out on Facebook)

Casino Night @ Legion - Play from 8-10:30pm. Auction starts at 10:30pm.

 

Saturday, August 20th

7-10am

Lions Pancake Breakfast @ Lions Club - All you can eat pancakes and sausages.  Come get fuelled up for the day’s events.  ($7-Adults, $3-Children 6-10, Free-Preschool)

8am-12pm

Village Wide Yard Sales -  We encourage anyone holding a yard sale to contact us prior to Friday, August 19th with your information so that we can create a village wide yard sale map to be made available on line and at the Village Office Friday evening.       Map

3rd Annual Children’s Bike Rally’s Bike Rally - Salisbury Parks & Leisure will be holding its 3rd Annual Children’s Bike Rally. For more information contact Holly @ 372-3280      Registration  

10am-3pm

Bazaar @ JMA High School Cafeteria - Salisbury Parks & Leisure Department will be holding a bazaar (FREE)  Table rentals are $25 each.  All money raised from table rentals will go towards the Highland Park Revitalization Project.  Vendors wishing to book a table, please contact the Parks & Leisure Department @ 372-3280.

Lego Sam’s Lego Train Show @ Upstairs at the Village Office - Come see Lego Sam’s Lego Train Show.  (FREE) Lego sets will be available for purchase. If you would like to display a Lego model that you have built, please bring it to Sam at the Village Office on Friday from 11 am to 3 pm to be put on display on Saturday.

Parade Line up @ Elementary School Parking Lot - All entries wishing to be judged must register and be lined up before 11:00 am.

12pm

Parade (Regular Parade Route) Please note, for safety reasons, through traffic on Main Street and River Road will be stopped for the length of the parade. (Rain or Shine) - Parade Organizers request that candy NOT be thrown from floats, in order to avoid possible injury to children that are gathering goodies.  Individuals may walk beside the float and hand out treats.  The committee encourages musical entrants. All rules for motorized vehicles should be abided by.  There will be no tolerance for reckless driving. 

 

(Directly After Parade) Dance Demo* - Come see what Maddi’s Dance Class has learned this summer!

 1-4pm 

Market & Food Court* - Local businesses, groups, organizations, or individuals are welcome to run their own stands to sell their products. (Baking, Crafts, Vegetables, BBQ...)  Limited space available so please contact the Village Office to book your spot. (FREE)

Wagon Rides* (FREE) - The Salisbury Parks & Leisure Department will be offering free wagon rides.  Horse team owned and led by Ryan Hicks.

Wacky Olympics* - Compete in a variety of wacky olympic challenges (Ages 8 and over)           Registration

Lobster Roll Supper @ Lions Club – Lobster Roll, Potato Salad, Coleslaw, and Dessert $15. Fundraiser for Highland Park Revitalization Project and Local Trail Development. FREE Swim at the Salisbury Lions Pool @ 63 Peter Street - In partnership with Salisbury Community Days, the Salisbury Lions Pool will be offering FREE admission on Sunday August 21 from 12-5pm.  Go for Gold at 2pm with swimming races put on by the Lifegaruding Staff.

All events followed by * will take place near the Salisbury Municipal Building, 56 Douglas Street.  THERE WILL BE NO PARKING/NO THROUGH TRAFFIC ON DOUGLAS ST. FROM 1PM-5PM.  Saturday afternoon’s event schedule is based upon the parade finishing at 1pm.  Because of this, times are subject to change according to the length of the parade.
